Accomplished jazz singer Shannon Butcher always lights up the stage, whether she's performing fresh takes on classic tunes or jazzing up Top 40 music in a set she likes to call "Pop Goes The Diva". Shannon is a regular performer at The Rex Hotel, both as a solo artist and with popular swing group Swing Rosie.

You may have caught Shannon's act with The Toronto Jazz Orchestra, the Keepin' Out of Mischief Combo and jazz greats such as Oscar Peterson and Rob McConnell, at jazz events including the Toronto Lindy Hop Exchange, the Annual Swing Thing and Dundas Jazz Vespers.

Shannon may have also caught your ear while doing a little crooning festival-style, most notably at the Downtown Toronto Jazz Festival, the Distillery Jazz Festival, the Oakville Jazz Festival and Celebrate Toronto Jazz Festival.

Shannon's self-titled CD, released in 2003, can be heard on JAZZ FM 91.1 - or you can check it out right now by visiting her Audio page.

"Shannon Butcher had the unenviable task of warming up the crowd for Oscar Peterson. No problem. Her combo showed Peterson that his will to swing lives on in a new generation that understands where the music came from and how vibrant it still is. Oscar led the cheering."
